Getting around

Trolley, golf cart or open-top bus: choose how Nashville gets shown to you.

Downtown, Music Row, the Gulch and the Parthenon in Centennial Park are too spread out to walk in one go in July. Pick the seat first; every option below covers the big sights, at its own pace and price.

Music City

The Opry circle, the Ryman pews, Studio B: Nashville’s music, booked.

The Grand Ole Opry still broadcasts live from a six-foot circle of wood cut from the old Ryman stage. The Hall of Fame keeps its wall of gold records a short walk from Broadway. These are the music tours people book most.

Nashville Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour

Ride a narrated Nashville trolley on a 13-stop, roughly 90-minute loop, with the option to hop off and explore places such as Centennial Park, the Ryman, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Drivers including CB, Owen, and Spaghetti have brought local stories and humor to the route. Plan around weekday downtown stop closures after 3:30pm.

After dark

Honky-tonks, party tractors and whiskey stills: Nashville after five.

Lower Broadway has live bands on every stage from late morning until the small hours. The pub crawls, party rides and distillery tours below are the ones people book first, and most of them check ID for 21+ at the door.

What it costs

What a day out in Nashville costs.

Every tour on the site, sorted by ticket price. Broadway itself is free; a surprising amount of the rest comes in under the price of a steak downtown.

Under $50

Audio walks, museum entry, line-dancing lessons and the honky-tonk party buses.

$50–150

Food tours, trolley loops, golf-cart sightseeing and the coach out to Jack Daniel’s.

$150 and up

Helicopter flights over downtown, Graceland days in Memphis and private off-road rides.

Book ahead

Four Nashville bookings that will not wait for you.

Most of this city runs on walk-ins: the honky-tonks charge no cover and the music starts before lunch. These four run on fixed seats and fixed departures.

  1. 01Grand Ole Opry Show Admission TicketThe Opry plays only a few nights a week, and Friday and Saturday seats in the main hall go first.
  2. 02Nashville to Jack Daniel’s Distillery Bus Tour + Whiskey TastingsLynchburg is well over an hour south-east. The coach leaves once, in the morning, and when it is full it is full.
  3. 03Nashville to Memphis Daytrip with Graceland VIP Tour and Sun Studio AdmissionMemphis is about three hours each way, so there is one early departure and a fixed entry time at the mansion.
  4. 04General Jackson Showboat Lunch or Dinner Cruise in NashvilleThe showboat sails at set lunch and dinner times with a seat at a table. Nobody walks on at the dock.
Under 21

Nashville with kids, or before your twenty-first birthday.

After dark much of Lower Broadway turns 21+, and so does every party tractor in town. Daytime Nashville is open to everyone: the Hall of Fame, the Opry House backstage, the trolley loop, the old houses at Belle Meade and the escape rooms out at Opry Mills.

Out of town
